A message from Pastor Dave:
The Lord God says to them, “Share your food with the hungry.” Isaiah 58:7
We are getting busy because those who are hungry are starting to knock on our door for food.
We are getting busy because as a church we support the work of Family Promise that opens up doors for homeless families to stay in while they are pulling their lives together. The conclusion of Isaiah 58:7 says, “The Lord God says to them, “open your homes to the homeless poor.”
Yesterday, a woman who heard about us from the Internet brought us a carload of food. This morning two hungry families contacted the church needing food. Later this morning a young woman brought us canned goods and ground beef. This afternoon at Inspira Medical Center I met a woman from St. James A.M.E. and she told me that their church is going to help support our Food Pantry with a gift. And then I had a text last night from someone who is going to write a significant check to support our work with Family Promise.
It never stops, but you know what, WE … WE THE PEOPLE of ST. PAUL’s … are called to do what we can to feed the hungry, to clothe the poor, and to welcome those in need. And we have started to gather food together in a CORNUCOPIA of non-perishable foods that we are filling the front of the church with.
PLEASE BRING FOOD! IF … IF you can afford to bring 5 non-perishable items with you to church on Sunday to put up on the altar, please bring them. Every week in November. If you can afford to bring 10 non-perishable items, bring them. If you shop at the BOX STORES, find the veggies or the canned fruit and buy them. At your grocery store find what’s on sale. Boxed milk is a biggie for families, but I know that at Aldi’s you can buy 5 cans of veggies for less than $5.
With your help, we will feed all the hungry that come to us.
Blessings,
Pastor Dave
