Jesus taught that giving should be selfless, joyful, and not for the praise of others. He stated that it is “more blessed to give than to receive” and that where your treasure is, your heart will be as well. He also emphasized that the true measure of a gift is the sacrifice involved, not the amount, as seen with the poor widow who gave all she had.
Passing the Plates
About a year ago the Leadership Team decided to test passing the plates, rather than just encouraging people to put their offerings in the box near the front door. Actually passing the plates each week has proven to increase our offerings, and this is very helpful to our finances.

As of right now we’re in our usual situation, running very much in the hole for the year. We really count on your holiday giving to help us catch up and break even.
So we hope you will all use the special offering envelopes included with our Thanksgiving and Christmas letters. Remember, “God loves a cheerful giver.”
