Back in May, Dave Fish gave our kids a children’s message based on John 17:22-23:
I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
For his message, Dave Fish gave each of the children a piece of a puzzle. His message was that the puzzle teaches a lesson. Each child had a piece, but a single piece isn’t much. You couldn’t see the picture from one piece. You have to put them together.
Our church is like a puzzle, and each child and each adult is a piece. When you put them all together, when we all work together, the world sees God’s love in us.
Each piece, each person, is important, because if you’re missing a piece, the picture is incomplete.
By the time Sunday School was over that Sunday, the kids had completed the puzzle. What was in the puzzle? FISH, of course!
Pastor Dave looked at that puzzle each week and finally took it away. And on June 19 he presented the framed puzzle to the church in honor of Dave Fish and his Children’s Messages.
It hangs in the Sanctuary on the right side and will have a plaque dedicating it to Dave and his years of faithful love for our children.
