On March 22, 2023, St. Paul’s hosted our session of the Ministerium’s Lenten Study of the Parables, and our topic was the Good Samaritan.
As the good Christians, including several pastors, came to the church, there was a homeless man out on the front lawn, begging. How many passed him by?
One attendee invited the homeless man in for lunch, but he refused, saying, “I can’t go in there. God is in there, and He knows.”
So two people gave him money, and one pastor brought him out a bowl of soup.
And when the lesson was over, Pastor Dave brought in the homeless man and introduced him as our Lay Leader, Dave Fish!
It was a real-life Bible lesson for our Ministerium. And the money Dave received was donated to the church.
But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have. “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.” Luke 10:33-37
The Lenten study took place every Wednesday during March, each week at a different church.
